II City Tournament of the Intellectual Board Game “Ulytau”

On December 13, 2025, the II City Tournament of the intellectual board game “Ulytau” was held in the city of Astana among 9th-grade students.

The event was organized by Canadian International School Astana, the Public Foundation “The Ulytau Educational Foundation”, and the Center for Identification and Support of Gifted Children and Talented Youth “Astana Daryny” under the Akimat of Astana.

Students from 38 schools of Astana took part in the tournament. The game was conducted in Kazakh, Russian, and English.

The author of the board game “Ulytau” is Raushan Kanatovna Akimbekova, a history teacher and researcher at Canadian International School Astana. The tournament was held for the second consecutive year and generated strong interest among high school students of the capital.

As part of the preparation, participants had the opportunity to explore the multimedia course “Ulytau — Land of Legends”, which includes six films on the history of Kazakhstan, created with the participation of experts and researchers. The films are available on the YouTube channel of The Ulytau Educational Foundation (@uefkz) in the playlist “Intellectual Board Game ‘Ulytau’”.

According to the results of the tournament, the Grand Prix winner was Adilbek Saltanat (Gymnasium School No. 87), who was ceremonially awarded the cup.

1st place: Alibek Aidar — Secondary School No. 45

2nd place: Teketesov Aisultan — Lyceum School No. 79

3rd place: Omirbek Marulan — Gymnasium School No. 63; Aldabas Amira — Neotech Digital School; Asel Akhanet — Qazbilim Astana National Lyceum
